What does a home alarm system consist of?
Home systems include a control panel and touchpad. The touchpad is usually located at the most convenient entry point to the home. We typically install magnetic contacts on perimeter doors. Motion detectors are strategically placed in major areas of the house. Fire alarm devices consist of smoke and heat detectors. Environmental devices can be low temperature sensors, carbon monoxide detectors, volatile gas detectors and water detectors Interior and exterior sirens are usually requested.
Do you install both home and business systems?
Yes, We have several thousand residential and commercial systems in the Northwest Colorado area.
How can Western Security help a business?
A business can be helped in multiple ways. Detection of either intrusion or fire alarm conditions, tracking of employee’s activity. Video observation of premises can assist in accessing events that are out of the business view. Controlled access by time schedule can make a business safer and more secure by limiting access to unwanted persons.
What happens if I accidentally trigger my alarm system?
If an intrusion signal is generated, our Central Station contacts the designated person to verify the alarm. If a fire alarm signal is generated the Central Station verifies the alarm after dispatch of the Fire Department. A customer can also contact the Central Station and after proper authentication, request cancellation of dispatch.
Can I use my phone to operate my security system?
Cellular connections to security systems allow a customer to both view and operate their system remotely thru an app on their phone or connected device.
What are the uses for security systems besides protecting my home?
Protection of the home consists of more than detecting intrusion. Fire alarm and environmental components provide offsite notification of conditions that can have major consequences. Low temperature monitoring is extremely valuable in our climate. Water detection or water mitigation systems can prevent damage that might otherwise be unnoticed until it’s too late.
I have pets, is that a problem?
Security systems can be armed to different levels. If pets are present, a system can be armed without motion detection turned on; conversely there are motion detectors that accommodate the size and location of many pets.
Do I need a phone line to have a security system?
A telephone line is not necessary in most instances. Providing there is adequate cellular coverage, offsite monitoring is available via a cellular communicator. We now have a Western Radio wireless Mesh Network that can replace a traditional land line that is much less expensive for the customer.
Does Western Security do home automation and integrated systems?
We have systems that provide for integration of thermostats, door locks, garage doors, lighting controllers and cameras for remote viewing.
